Great little airport cafe run by a real nice woman named Karen. Good food and views of the runways. Fuel is usually reasonable, and the airport has two runways to make it a great place to stop for lunch and gas up when traveling around Eastern Virginia. Open Mon-Sat 1100-1430L. - Submitted by Chase

Campbell Field Airport (9VG) - Weirwood, VA

Soup-on-Sunday. 'Come Roll on the Grass'. Campbell Field Airport (9VG). Weirwood, Virginia - Eastern Shore of Virginia Every Sunday from Noon until 3PM. Every Sunday starting November 13th fly in to Campbell Field Airport and enjoy soup, hot dogs and other assorted goodies. This is not a fancy fly-in just a good old fashioned 'roll on the grass'. While you may think the purpose is to feed hungry pilots the real idea is to get those plane engines running during the cold and dreary winter months. So get that oil warmed up and fly on in! Free T-shirt for anyone attending (with plane) 5 'Soup-on-Sundays'. For more info and this weeks menu visit: www.campbellfieldairport.com. Ernie's Restaurant - South Boston, VA

Located about a 5 minute drive from W78. This place is flying below the radar right now and unless you know it's there, you will miss it. Fly-in traffic is welcomed. Just give Ernie's a call once you get on the ground and they will be happy to transport you to and from their restaurant. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Quite a few pilots have and continue to fly in for a stop at Ernie's. Good home cooked buffet style restaurant as well as menu items. W78 has a 4000' paved runway as well as a 2000' grass strip along with self serve avgas. - Submitted by Dan Bishop

FAA Aeromedical Training Programs - Langley, VA

The FAA offers aeromedical training that is informative and fun. The classes are offered at many locations (see the web site listed or go through the FAA web site and look for physiological training.) I've listed Langley because that's where we went. If you plan it early enough, you may be able to fly into the Airforce Base. (You have to get a special pass.) We also got high-altitude sign-offs because the class includes a trip in a barometric pressure chamber up to about 25,000 feet! - Submitted by nibble26
